Abstract

|
Purpose: This study aimed to comprehensively review the experiences of art therapy graduate students in clinical practice training through meta-synthesis of qualitative studies on mental health medicine and clinical practice experience.
Methods: Meta-ethnography of Noblit and Hare was used. The findings of four qualitative studies were synthesized for description.
Results: The following four themes were synthesized from individual qualitative studies; difficulty applying theoretical knowledge in clinical practice; start with fear and gain confidence; focus on surrounding situations rather than patient symptoms; and self-expansion and self-growth through supervision.
Conclusion: It was possible to confirm not only the difficulties that art therapy masters experienced in the mental health ward, but also the preparation and growth of beginner art therapists.
